I'm beginning work on a back entrance pergola and because of a soffit blocking access to the rim joist I have to attach the ledger to the door header and one wall stud on each side of the door. The door wasn't centered between the wall studs so one end of the ledger will extend 6" past the stud. Is this something a building inspector will have a problem with? It's a small structure. thanks

andy5150,
Centering doors and windows between the studs is never considered when constructing a house. The inspector won't have a problem with the ledger being 6" past the stud on one side.
