I have one nasty Mole that literally destroyed my lawn, its made divots and flipped them up side down and this caused the roots to burn. I heard that the only way to get rid of them is to kill their food supply and they will move on somewhere else!?!
Is this the only way? Thanks, Pete

We have 2 cats that used to catch moles fairly regular but not so much any more - presumably they aren't as prevelant :D

I've seen a minature like windmill advertised that has a portion underground the they say creates a noise that runs the moles off - I have no idea if it is effective or not.

Pete, since moles are carnivores, getting rid of the grubs they eat will certainly help. With grubs it's 'treat in the fall or not at all'.

This is a great thread about moles, voles and traps.

Try milky spore powder. This all natural product gets rid of grubs for 15-20 years, but the application is time consuming. The best price I've found is on Amazon.com.

Milky spore is probably the best way to go, it will rid your lawn of grubs that attract the moles. Are you sure that it was a mole that caused the damage? The flipped divot description sounds like it might be a skunk - they also like grubs.

There are cheaper chemical treatments that will kill the grubs but milky spore is safe and effective and lasts a long time. Probably cheaper in the long run.

Definately treat the yard to get rid of their food supply. I tried everything on the market to kill or catch them with no success. A tip from my mail man was to stick a water hose in a tunnel and let it run for 4 or 5 hours and flood them out. It worked !!! No probles since !!! Try it, worked for me.
