I have a John Deere with a 15hp Kohler motor and it starts smoking pretty bad after it gets warm and then it loses power bad enough that it won't even pull it's self with the blades engaged without killing the motor. My question is..Does this sound like the rings are shot? It has been ran low of oil a few times.:confused:

Check the oil. Is it thin and smell like gas? If so, you have a carb problem causing gas to leak into the crankcase. If not, you may have a blown head gasket.
