:( , Severall years ago, I had a "Professional" contractor come into my home. His job was to put an addition on the house (master bedroom with bath). Since then, shocklingly enough, several things have gone wrong or simply fell apart.
Slowly, I'm making the attempt to become "Handy" and make repairs myself.
The shower in the "New" bathroom has sustained a crack in the floor around the drain. It runs about 4 to 5 inches. I've tried to use fiberglass patch, but this is only a temporary bandage that has led to more patching. I'm at my wits end and feel that the only way to repare this problem is to replace the whole shower unit.
I'm willing to give it a go, however, I lack the know-how to do it.
Any an all advice or instruction will be recieved humbly and greatfully,

Sgt Mac 53

Sarge,

There are probably a hundred other websites people here could send you to for an answer. Why they couldn't wait for you to get an answer here is beyond me other than some people just have to be first (to answer) all the time.

The shower problem is probably repairable by using the methods mentioned on THE OTHER WEBSITE but the problem is you need to find out WHY the crack is there to begin with.

Chances are whatever repair you make will happen over and over again.

Some of those shower bases are required to have cement under them or they will crack over time. This may be the case with yours.:D

Buy yourself a DIY book on plumbing/showers/bathrooms.. at a big box store... It's a small investment that will show you, in relative detail, how to install a new shower pan. Once your old one is cracked, there isn't a whole lot you can do to make it both serviceable and pretty....

If you can repair the crack & don't like the look--
Why don't you cover it w/ a rubber ( perforated & non-slip )
shower mat.................they do come in different colors
