MTD Model Series 690 thru 699 Hydrostatic Lawn Tractors.

My question is, How do I add or change the fluid in the hydrostatic transmission? I do have the Operators Manual, and Parts Manual, but it doesn't give you how too's on adding or changing, just the fluid amount and weight of fluid in transmission. And if any1 needs a copy of either of these manuals, let me know.

These transaxles are pre-filled from the factory and in most cases out last the unit they are installed in.

If they are working satisfactory they are better left alone.

If you must add fluid there is a vent fitting in the top that can be removed to add. If you want to change the fluid the transaxle must be removed then flipped so the fluid will exit the above mentioned vent. But, Only drain in the position below. You don't want any extra sludge/metal particles entering the pump area.
