I have an existing tub that I want to add a shower to...I have seen somewhere that you can simply add a valve to the existing waterpipes,...I don't want anything fancy but I can't find anything online that speaks to me.. can anyone give me a direction?

Hi Kathleen and welcome to the forums!
Someone may be able to answer your question, but I'm pretty sure it won't be me:)
If you don't get any response within a couple of hours, you may want to ask a moderator to move your post to the plumbing forum.

Thanks, Connie....I appreciate it. It seems like such a simple idea, so I know it will be complicated. Oh well. Kathleen Joy

You got that right!
You can buy a new spout to replace the old spout. The new spout would have an attachment for a "personal shower". The ones with the flexible tube. there is also a hanger that attaches to the wall to hold the spray head and wah-lah, a new shower.
If that doesn't appeal to you then plan on taking out a wall and doing some serious plumbing. then the wall must be repaired of course.:)
