We have a fenced garden but still the racoons get in. Any ways to repel them other than a small caliber rifle?

Raccoons can be trapped and relocated. Many areas, however, have ordinance against doing so. Motion activated sprinklers tend to get the best applause for controlling critters in the landscape.
