Every time I use then empty our whirlpool tub, there is a sand-like substance left in the bottom of the tub. I have run bleach thru it several times but this doesn't seem to clear it up. I have no idea what it is but is very consistent with sand. Any ideas where this is coming from or how to get rid of it permanently?

Are you using a whole house filter? If not, you should install two in tandem. Allow the first one to incorporate a 5 micron filter, then the second one, a 2 micron filter. That way the 5 micron should stop most of the sand, and the 2 micron will stop the finer stuff. Are you on a well, or municipal water system?

We are on city water. I haven't seen sand anywhere else so I was thinking maybe it had something to do with the just the whirlpool.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Take the aerator off the kitchen sink and pour a clear vessel full of water and let it sit. After a few hours look at the bottom to see if you have any sediment.
