I am currently have a home built. My question is, do single pole switches in a plastic box have to be grounded on the switch. My electrician has them bundled , in boxes with multiple switches, in the box with a wire nut. All the lights work but the directions on the box the switches come in reads they have to be grounded on the switch.

With the plastic box., it is my standard pratice to have the switch have ground wire hook up espcally this is a new construction or allready rewired up todate stadard the reason why they have to ground the switch yoke [ the metal strap] because in case you have metal switch cover for protection and also it a standard pratice we do that with metal box verison as well.
If your electrician did not do that you should ask him why do that.
Merci,Marc

(1) The switch is mounted with metal screws to a metal box or to a nonmetallic box with intregral means for grounding devices.

The bares grounds need to connect to all switches in the box.
