Hi,

I have read a lot of posts here and did not seem to find the fix to my problem.

We are in northern VA. Outside temperature at night is about 40. The heat pump runs all night blowing cold air. The temperature in the house never reaches the set temperature, currently 64.

Auxiliary heat won't automatically kick in. I have to manually raise the set temperature a little bit to trigger auxiliary heat. When auxiliary heat is on, warm/hot air is blowing. After the house gets warmer, auxiliary heat turns off and the heat pump keeps running forever unless I lowers the set temperature to shut it off.

While the heat pump (with auxiliary heat off) is running, the outdoor fan runs too. The outdoor unit is not frozen. The indoor big pipe is hot to the touch, the indoor small pipe is cold. The air at the registers is perhaps warmer than the small pipe, but still cold.

What could be the problem here ? Please help, we have a new born baby in the house.

Thank you very much for your time.

Lee

Yes, it worked OK until a few days ago.

I will call a tech if no fix can be identified here.

Thanks

lee,
Surprised you haven't gotten any more responses. Give it a bit, I'm sure most of the pro's are at work til later.

It sounds like you have the AC on. Did anyone mess with your thermostat?

You can have so many IFS IFS here. You dont say what blower you have there . What tstat you have . Is it low on freon. Blower relay time delay. Tstat blower time delay? Whats the diff. set in the tstat? tstat OK?
Call a tech that you know that knows what he or she is doing.
