poulan mower got on it .motor turns over sounds like it wants start.but when let go of key engine backfires and sheer's flywheel key. put new key done same thing again.any suggestions thanks--slodrive

Is the timing right? Pre detonation can cause this.

It continues to shear the flywheel key? If so, I'd say the flywheel bolt isn't being tightened to proper torque. Also, do not allow oil or grease to contact the mating surfaces on the crankshaft and flywheel or it will shear the key again.
