I am desperate for a normal shower!! I have a Moen one handle posi-temp on my shower. And Since i bought the house a year ago, the hot water pressure has gone from okay to almost nothing. I've done some reading up and I believe I need to replace the cartridge..
My problem is, last night i took the handle off, and the parts immediately thereafter, but was unable to get the cartridge out. Is there some super secret trick I need to know?!?!?!
I would great appreciate any help.
Thanks!:wall:

Don't know what model you have, but mine (which I replaced the cartridge in last month) has a "upside down U clip" that needs to be removed first from the front of the cartridge. It can be pesky (stuck) but will come out. From there the cartridge can be slid out of the housing (again - difficult as it's in there nice and snug). Use care not to screw up the housing - with firm, but careful pressure.
Oh yeah, be sure to turn off the water supply... LOL

Are there (hot water) pressure issues anywhere else in the house?:)

If I remember correctly, many times Moens need a puller to get the cart out. I believe this is packed with the OE replacements, but I could be wrong. If not it is available separately. I'm sure there is another method, but you'll prob need the tool later anyway.
Used to be available at the Big Box, and prob at any good hardware or plumbing supply.

They sell a puller for the carts as well, if I remember correctly. Should be available at most Big Box or any good hardware/plumbing supply. As was said, do make sure you have any clips or retainers out.

The water pressure in the rest of the house is fine. Even the sink next to the shower is fine. So i'm thinking i just need to get the puller and a cartridge and hopefully that will solve my problems. Thanks for the info!

Had exactly the same issue.... replacement part in hand, water off, but couldn't get cartridge out.. Ended up prying it out (cautiously, but firmly) using channel locks and a large screwdriver for a fulcrum... Using a puller is, no doubt, better - but you can do it if you have to.... Just don't crack the tile :-)
