Hi,
I want to install a utility sink in the basement and have a few questions before I begin. Here's where I am: There used to be a special photography sink that was already removed before I moved in, so the necessary pipes are all in place, albeit higher than normal. I have no problem tapping into the existing supply lines and have done this before. However, the drainage that was left behind, currently a capped PVC P-fitting that runs into the main sewer line (a large black plastic pipe), is about 30" off of the ground; much too high to fit neatly under my utility sink. Also, the sewer line that I would drain into is high in this room as well, about 24". Shouldn't there be a downhill grade from my sink drain to the sewer line? Do I need to do something special for proper drainage? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Typical rough in for a laundry tub is 14". Build a 7" platform for the sink. Give it a smigeon of pitch and you have a winner!
