I am in the process of building a 10x16 shed with 2x6 floor joists. I received my lumber package yesterday and noticed the 2x6x16 are missing to frame the floor (band joist). I called the lumber yard and they told me it is common to frame the floor with 2x4's and use the 2x6 as the floor joist.
Is this common? I have never heard of this and it sounds weird to me. Does it compromise on the strength of the floor?
I mistakenly posted this quetion in the garage forum as well.
sorry...

If your floor will be sitting on skid, then get your self some 2x6x26 band joists. Get them pressure treated too.
