I have a double sink in my bathroom. Both sinks are completely clogged. Last night I ran a snake through both sinks but the snake came out of the other side of the sink. I am using a hand held manual snake. The snake is running between the sinks and not going down to the main line. There must be a “T” joining the 2 sinks and I don’t know how to get the snake down the line where both drains connect. Any ideas?

Forget the snake, for right now. Get down and dirty, and remove the ptrap under the cabinets. Be sure to have a bucket and get ready for some gosh awful rotted hair and other things that smell in the dark. Post back with what you find out.

I should have given more detail. Both traps are removed. I snaked into the pipe comming out of the wall for both sinks. Is it possible for both sink pipes to meet at a "T"? If so then how do I get the snake to follow the drain that goes to the main line.

Both sinks probably do meet into a common drain pipe, and you won't get the snake to make the turn, sorry. You may be lucky in a sense if the vent pipe for that bathroom is tied into the drain for the sink, and often it is. Look on your roof and see where the vent pipe protrudes. Is it close to the location of the sinks? If so the clog may be in the line below your sinks and running a garden hose (water off) down the vent may help clear the clog.

Even if the vent pipe was directly over my sink you couldn't pay me enough to go on my roof!!!! I'll sleep on it and try again in a few days. I'm going to buy an electric auger to see if that will work. Should have bought one years ago. I thought there may be a "plumber's secret" to getting to the common line. Thanks.
