I have about 21 movies on my Direct TV HD DVR Reciever. The model it HR20-700 DVR HD Reciever. How can I do this?? I know there has got to be a way b/c this thing is like a computer. I know nothing about the dvd recorders that are out there now. The book does not say anything either about doing this. Anyone have any info please post. THANKS

Perhaps this may work for you. If your DVD recorder has a hard drive built in, then play back the movies on your DVR Direct TV receiver, recording them on your DVD recorder (real time). Once it has been recorded on the DVD recorder's hard drive, then you can burn your DVD shows.
Too bad that the SATA, RJ45, and USB connectors are for future use. If they were enabled, then you could of transfered the shows to another device, then burn them on to a DVD.

Nah, you just write/burn them direct from DVR to DVD recorder, as noted in real time.
But, they will only be recorded in SD. Use s-video out of DVR to DVDR, along with audio cables.
(I don't think you'll find a DVDR with component or HDMI inputs, as Hollywood does not want you burning HD movies.)

I don't own a DVD recorder(yet)?!! If this will definately work then I will buy one or borrow my coworkers. I only have 12% space left on my hard drive on my DVR (directtv) reciever. Thanks

Have home-use Blu-Ray dvd recorders even hit the market? Those have got to be expensive when they do!

They won't be expensive, they will be non-existent.
As I said, Hollywood will not let it happen.
D-VHS machines (HD capable) came out a few years ago and the only thing you could record was OTA(over the air.)

BluRay DVD burners hit the market several months ago. They are relatively expensive, but that will change in a hurry.

These are mainly for computer storage and HD video camera usage/transfer.
Had Toshiba not pulled the plug on HD-DVD the prices would have fallen faster. Without competition, BluRay prices will descend much slower.
And the main point I'm trying to get across is that Dish or Direct DVR HD drive content will not be copied in HD easily.
