I have a Murray riding mower model number 30544x92d and the drive belt broke...I went out and got a 1/2x30 and replaced it but within 5 mins that belt was ripped apart and i dont know why...the belt was not twisted and i could see nothing it could have been rubbing on...i thought maybe the belt was to small so went and got a 1/2x 32 and it seems to be too big as it jumps off...please help...the engine is a formula 8 but i dont know the model number.

Some Murray belts are size particular, In some cases you can't just pull a 4L-*** off a wall and have it work properly.
Find the proper Murray belt and make sure the idler pulley is good (bearings/belt surface) and the belt is riding on the proper side of belt guides and they are not bent out of shape hitting the belt.
The proper Murry belt number is 37X65
