Outdoor Pest Control - attacks by birds!!

I have a 40 ft evergreen Chritsmas tree in my front yard someone planted years ago and a group of birds comes from the tree and uses my small front porch railing as a launch pad to dive bomb my front windows. There are whitish marks (must be bird poop from their bodies??) where they hit the glass. These birds are really stupid because they just keep hitting the glass over and over. I can't believe they don't kill themselves. I assume they are seeing themselves reflected in the glass but what can I do to stop this? There are bird droppings all under the railing and marks on the glass. Also I can hear them hit the glass when I am home. BIZARRE!!

This is interesting but doesn't help. Since I first wrote about my bird problem, the bird has continually hit 4 other windows in my house. Two of the windows - most visible and easiest for him to hit - are almost solid white from whatever substance is on the birds feathers. It is the most bizarre thing. But he either killed himself or gave up because he hasn't been hitting the windows lately.

It was a robin - quite a large one - and he would flutter against the window hitting it over and over. I tried putting pillows in the window and cloth and scaring him but nothing worked. After a few days he apparently stopped.

Thanks for the update and all you did for that poor bird. I suspect it might have been ill and that is why it kept doing that. Glad to know it's stopped.
