I have a 1992 model Bryant Heatpump,10kw electric emergency heat backup. The original wireing was this way.
Thermostat Outside Unit (Control Board)
O=Orange O=Orange
R=Red R=Red
E=Brown W2=Brown
Y=Yellow Y=Yellow
C=Black C=Black
G1=Green Green=Temp Relay
W2=White White=Temp Relay
Bryant Confort Control Thermostat
Replacement
Thermostat
S2
S1
O/W2= Orange O=Orange
Y1
L
B
R=Red R=Red
Y/Y2=Yellow Y=Yellow
G=Green Green=Temp Relay
C=Black C=Black
W/W1=White White=Temp Relay
I don't know where the Brown wire goes!
Old thermostat Brown=E
New thermostat Brown=?
I have Heat & cool, Defrost works Too. Wired this way,Can anyone help??

What do you have for a new t-stat? No info was given.. I am guessing it's a Honeywell since you posted S1 and S2.

The old thermostat was a Bryant Pt.#HHD7ATQW002A it has 4 mercury bulbs.
The new thermostat is the Bryant Confort Control. It has the S1 and S2 terminals.
New Bryant Confort Control Terminal Strip #1 S2,S1,O/W2,Y1,L,B, Terminal Strip#2 Do Not Use,R,Y/Y2,G,C,W/W1.
Old Bryant Thermostat Terminals G1,Y,E,R,C,W2,O.
G1=Green, Y=Yellow, E=Brown, R=Red, C=Black, W2=White, O=Orange. Can you Help? Thank You.
