There's a towel bar in the shower/bathtub. the bar itself is covered in plastic??? it has cracked and I want to remove it - problem is the porcelain ends seem to be permanantly affixed to the tile (they are not set in the tile tho) I gave one a tap from the bottom to see if if would loosen up...nada - it chipped a piece of the ceramic...any ideas?? House built in 28' but am sure these were added later...maybe 1940's - 50's

You can replace those plastic bars without damaging the porcelain holders.:) Don't be beatin' on that stuff unless you intend to destroy it.:)
