I visit a tile forum and most of the tile experts love Kerdi shower kits. The company that make Kerdi is Schluter systems. The shower bastin is a hard foam that can be bought in different sizes and even cut to custom length. The curb is installed seperatly and the walls are a waterproof membrane that comes in rolls. The walls can be put right over drywall and tiled over.It is suppose to be the easiest, fastest and user freindly system there is.The tile guys like it because it is fast

Visit www.Markeindustries.com. They make a number of kits that make the job easier (pre-pitch, quick-pitch and Kerb-perfect. The kits are awesome, and the video is outstanding. I am going through the process now.
Whether you use their stuff or not, you need to follow their instructions if you don't want the shower to leak or to accumulate mold. It's a time consuming process, but is something you can accomplish. I did it, and so far, so good.
