Hi, just installed a Concord 4. Is there any way to turn off the countdown beeps without having to remember to press "5" (silent) every time? The manual implies you can do this in the "OPTIONS menu" but never really tells you how.
I'm finding the countdown beeps particularly annoying when arming STAY. I can understand why the beeps sound after arming AWAY, but why on earth would anyone want to hear all those beeps if they are STAYING?!?
Disabling status beeps is not an option because I want to hear the chime, unless there a way to disable ONLY countdown beeps?

OK, I found a Concord 4 user guide online that differs from my user guide. It refers to "Always Silent" which gave me hope...
Concord User Guide 466-1513-01 Rev F June 2004 Page 17
Note: Arming Always Silent may have been disabled by your installer.
Turning this feature on in User Programming means that the status beeps that come from touchpads and interior speakers while arming will always be silent. You will not have to enter 5 before arming, as with Silent Arming on Demand.
- To enable Silent Arming:
1. Enter the programming menus by pressing 9 + System or Partition Master CODE.
2. Press 041.
3. To turn Silent Arming:
- on, press 2 + #. No system status beeps will sound while arming.
- off, press 1 + #. System status beeps will sound from touchpad while arming.
Unfortunately, when I enter 041 my system doesn't recognize it. I called GE Security Technical support and they didn't know what I was talking about when I referred to this feature (it wasn't in their version of the user guide). Could it be this was a non-existent feature inadvertently put in an older manual and now removed?
I can't believe this system is so RETARDED that it sounds countdown beeps when you arm STAY and there is no way to turn it off by default other than disabling ALL status beeps.

This is a tricky one! In order to be "false alarm compliant", the option to always silence those beeps was taken away in Concord 4. You can turn it off, but you need the download software to do it. Otherwise, hitting 5 first is your only remedy...
I doubt you have the keypad (most don't), but there are 2 (2100 and the 2600) that will allow you to create macro commands. You can program up to 14 keypresses into one button. Into my STAY button, I programmed "5,2,4". This arms silently, to level 2 (quick arm is on), and with no entry delay time. Works pretty slick (I also use 2 other buttons on the keypad to open/close my garage doors), but you have to have one of the two keypads...
I suppose one other option is to silence individual keypads...like the one in the living room, or whichever one is the one in question.

GEGUY, thanks the info! I must also thank you for your extremely helpful comments in other Concord 4 threads I have read here since recently finding this forum.
Regarding the software, I am actually planning to order a lock and some other accessories for my panel - I noticed some software too for ~$5 so I may add that to my order. However, I don't have an active land line and was planning to go with either GSM (alarm.com) or ABN (nextalarm.com) for monitoring. Do I need an active phone line to program the panel via the software?
Option 2: I'm thinking about getting the voice module. If I turn off the status beeps at the touchpads will the speakers beep? If not, that might provide my solution as I really only want to hear status beeps for the chime feature.
Option 3: If I get a keyfob to arm/disarm will I hear the countdown beeps?

On a whim, I checked the software today to see if you can silence delay beeps...My bad, you can't!
Yes, you need an active phone line to call into a panel with software...There is a way to direct connect without a phone line, but it's kind of a pain.
Voice module will beep...I turned my volume level down to "1" so it's not so annoying.
Keyfob arming/disarming acts the same as normal arm/disarm. If you want to get creative with arming/disarming, you can have x-10 devices flash the arming levels (like exterior lights).
Don't pay for the software...it's free on GE's website!

With the voice module, is there any way to turn off status beeps like you can with the keypads? Or is the only option to lower the speaker down? If you CAN turn off status beeps with the voice module, is the Voice Chime (045) also turned off? Basically what I'm hoping to do is hear the voice module for everything but the beeps.

Nope, can't disable beeps through the voice module.

Curious about how to do this? Is this described in a manual somewhere? I assume a powerline adapter and X-10 light module is needed? Anything else?

All you need is a Line Carrier Transformer on Concord 4.
On the X-10 side, they sell lamp modules (stick a lamp in a window that you can see from outside), or swap out your existing exterior light switches with X-10 wall switches. I've got my exterior garage lights (3 of em) and my front and back door lentry ights flashing every time I arm/disarm (they'll also flash for burg alarms)...
Set the house code to "B" on the X-10 modules and the unit number to "2" and you're good to go.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of continuing to try to kill the countdown beeps! :D I fooled around for about 1/2 an hour and couldn't figure out how to kill them off.
