I'm looking to install electric radiant heating wires in a rehabbed bathroom, and would like to have a 7-day programmable control. These controls are typically $150 and very basic. The question is this: Is it possible to use a programmable HVAC temperature control (<$50) instead? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The thermostat you mention that comes with the line voltage or low voltage radiant systems are the actual switch for the system.

The problem you'll have with buying the 'lesser priced' model (providing it can switch 120v / 20a) is the missing in-floor sensor you'll need to activate it.

If you're willing to spend the $150 but want more control from the tstat than just on/off, look into and Aube Tstat that has max temp limiter as well as in-floor sensing. They sell for about $130.

Probably not.

Those heaters heat the floor, and are regulated at the floor with temperature sensor installed in the floor, which the special controller can read. Plus they have safety components built in.

Aube is ultimately the way to go here. With that suggestion, I was able to find an Aube floor temp controller on Ebay for just $70 (TH115AF). Thanks for the advice!
