I've just installed a new Vista 20P with 6160RF keypad. The 6160RF is behaving strangely. For example in programming mode, entering #34 displays sequentially
06
00
06
00
rather than the expected 60. Similarly, doing a *34 to change the Exit Delay and then entering 30* displays as
03
00
Has anyone seen this behavior? What could be wrong? I set the 6160RF to address 16 as required, as it is the only keypad on the system. At this point, there are no sensors installed yet.

Thanks

It is showing you the delays for partition 1 then partition 2
60 60

I don't think I communicated the issue clearly. My other Ademco panel displays #34 as:

60
60

and entering a number say 13 would display as:

enter 1
display shows 01
enter 3
display shows 13

but with this 6160RF #34 displays as:
06
00
06
00

and entering a number 13 displays as:

enter 1
display shows 01
enter 3
display shows 03.

In other words it is not shifting the first of a two digit number to the tens position. I think it must be a problem with the way the keypad is interpreting the data.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I just built a v20p with a 6150 to verify what I was saying. When you press #34 it should display 06 beep 00 beep 06 beep 00 beep beep beep which is telling you you have 60 secs in partition 1 60 seconds in partition 2 Now when you say your other panel shows 60 60 is this another keypad on the same syatem or another separate system

SteveFl,

You are absolutely right, of course. I had installed my 6160 several years ago, and had just forgotten how it worked. Both keypads behave the same. I guess I was remembering the *56 behaviour, which is different from some of the other rather unintuitive parameter programming. I think Honeywell must have a deal with the installers to make programming difficult and manuals hard to read in order to ensure installer job security. Fortunately we have this forum and great folks like yourself and MrRonFL who know the systems and are willing to help. Thanks!
