Hello all. I have removed the existing tiles from a backsplash area behind a cooktop. The substrate is a masonry back wall and cement board on the sides. Both seem sound. My question is this. The old adeasive is yellow in color. I assume some sort of mastic ? Can I simply sand it down smooth and then begin the new tile installation ? Also, is there a recommended adheasive for this application. Thank you in advance.
