I recently got a Zenith A50M84W Rear projection TV for free. I'm trying to fix it up for the local police station breakroom, to replace the 20 incher that is going green ( not sure on its problem... ) but this tv keeps blowing the 4 amp main fuse. It will blow the fuse when completely disconnected and out of the set, so it isnt the degauss posistor. Any ideas on other problems this might have? I have checked the solder side and resoldered a few sketchy joints, but none were really bad, and I don't see any solder bridges either.

When what is out of the set?

Something is causing a direct short. Could be any of a hundred things. Check the component side with a magnifying glass for burned parts. (Or the solder side for overheating.)

When what is out of the set?

When the power board is out of the set, disconnected from the tubes, and the small signal board. I have checked the board several times over, cannot seem to find any burned/damaged components. I have also checked the resistance between the 2 ac input legs and it shows to be about 5 MegaOhms. Ill go ahead and take another good look at it, but come monday If I still cannot figure it out, im gona make another call to the LG/Zenith parts department and see about a replacement board.

By the way, If anyone needs a service manual for a Zenith or LG product, give their parts department a call... If they have it, they will email it to you for free in PDF form. Unfortunately, they had everything but the schematics for this model :(
