hello, My son just accidently dropped my 28 inch Tv on the Floor in our living room (a drop of about 2 feet) and now my picture has a purple halo around the edges of the screen... Is this a fixable problem or do I have to buy a new Tv? Can a repair shop fix it? or will it make it worse to fix it? Any help you can offer me would be wonderful. I really don't want to buy a new one... It is an RCA Stereo Monitor Colortrack Plus. 28 inches.

Thank you, Karin

There may be no need for a repair shop.

There are several magnetic rings around the thin part of the back of the tube. The magnets guide and align the electron beams. Dropping the TV probably dislodged one or more of them.

Please read the TV Safety sticky (http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?t=309110) at the top of the index for this forum, then visit this web site (http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/cbm/converge.txt) for a tutorial.

Be very careful if you choose to DIY. The neck of the tube is very fragile. Don't force anything.
