I was just checking out the posts in this section and it looked like people were pretty focused on bamboo only, but there are other exotic woods that you should definitely check out. As a hardwood fanatic, I'd recommend checking out some of these exotics:
Brazilian Cherry, Para Rosewood, Santos Mahogany, Cumaru (Brazilian Chestnut, beautiful stuff), Ipe (pronounced ee-pay), Tigerwood (Tigerwood is amazing, just look at it).
There are lots of good online retailers where you can scope out and price them. I've got a Para Rosewood floor in my house and an Olive Ipe floor in my condo, and I have to say they are gorgeous. I didn't even know about these exotic woods until a contractor friend of mine turned me on to them.
There are many good websites on which to troll for deals.
