Well, I made a swap last night from the 12HP BS single in my wards rider to a 17HP Briggs twin. It fit right up stack pulley and all. As for the wiring, the yellow from the armature looks to be the same for both and appears to be the kill circuit for the seat, deck, etc. But the other 2 are a little different. My old 12HP has a red and white pair coming out of the stator and the newer 17HP has a red and black. The diagram for the 17HP shows a diode in the loop making the red DC only and the white is still AC. My question is....Are the wires the same on both motor just a different color? RED to red and black to white? That would sure be nice!

Thanks,

Nathan

If both wires are in the same connector, then it plugs right up to the harness like the old one did. red-red, black-white.
