I was wondering how to cut outlet holes in my granite slab that is 3/8 inch thick.

Angle grinder with masonry disk, cut from back. The big ones are a chore to hold and make accurate cuts with.

I do hope this is not a horizontal surface. If it is, let me save you the aggravation of cutting the holes. Don't. You can't install receptacles on a horizontal surface. If it is a backsplash, then like Kobuchi said, from the back with an angle grinder and diamond blade. You will need to score the front for the exact breaking point, however.

Yes it is for a back splash. Do you just cut or is it better to drill the corners first if so what kind ok drill bit do you use.

Drilling granite can be risky business. For outlet boxes it is much easier and safer to simply saw the holes with a diamond blade.:)

I'd suggested "masonry blade" - meaning the abrasive carbide kind that wears down... it's what I'm familiar with. Is diamond better for fine granite? All granite?
