Hello everyone.. I am in the process of replacing my bathtub and plumbing.. being that the tub was tiled in all the way around, I had to slide it out from the bedroom next to it. When removing some tiles around the tub to make clearence, some were broken.. they are 4 1/4 " square and I have given up on finding replacements. Is there any creative way to add a border using another size tile that would look "right" ? The whole tub area is tiled, including the ceiling, so I don't want to replace all the tiles..
Also, I have found a great price on an American Standard tub which I plan to purchase.. the dimensions are:
60" x 30" x 14" My old tub is 60" x 30" x 15" I figure that the one inch shorter height can be made up with the border..
Any thoughts on this?? do those dimensions sound right? Thanks
Chuck

4 1/4" tile itself is fairly common, although never in the color you want. Installing a contrasting color in strategic areas can enhance the beauty of the room. I would look for either a solid color or designed tile to fill in the voids, and you will have to experiment with the one inch area at the bottom, although it sounds as if you had to destroy the side wall to get it out, not sure. Is it a full tub/shower unit, or just a tub?

Larry, It is a tub with the shower coming out of the tiles. I removed three rows of tiles to get the tub out and to get to the water damaged backing. I cut a hole in the left wall and it slid right out. My main water supply for the whole house was on the right side along with all the bath tub plumbing which is why I decided to cut another hole. It was one of those cheap metal tubs that had began to rust after 20 years. It was very light.. I carried it out to the street myself.
Would it be crazy to jack the tub up to make up for the one row of broken tiles and the one inch??
Here are some photos. Thanks, Chuck
