I have just redone my bathroom with tile in the shower and on the floor. I found some acrylic caulking that matches the tiles very well and was wondering is acrylic caulking just as good and water tight as silicone caulking? Which should I use?

There are many varieties of acrylic caulk, while silicones are roughly alike.

If it's labeled good for bathrooms then I'd say go for it.

Acrylic is not so durable as silicone, but much much easier to scrape off and reapply later.

If silicone peels even microscopically from a surface, the gap efficiently wicks and collects moisture. The thin edges of a silicone bead are somewhat translucent, and often show trapped mildew through them.

Of course silicone is shiny, while acrylic is dull and tends to blend in.

I use only silicone in wet areas. Acrylics can be used in other areas. However, in the wet areas, where you will be using silicones, make sure the area is absolutely dry, even if you have to put a fan or heater in the wet area to dry it out before application. If it isn't dry, mold and mildew will grow from beneath the application and will discolor the silicone, making you very unhappy.
