HEAT PUMP WITH OIL FURNACE BACKUP.I had a white rodgers if82-261 heat pump thermostat that went faulty. I could not find same one so i am replacing with if85-275 universal multi/stage heat pump. Question is on 261 white wire was connected to w2 with a jumper from E TO W2.With 275 jumper not required but should withe wire be on w2 or on E/W1. THANKS IN ADVANCE

I believe the White wire goes on W2. It would be the second stage of heat and if you set the thermostat to 2 stage, it knows enough to connect the same backup source to Emergency and Auxiliary on its own.
