What's up,
this is my first post but i'm sure more will come ;)
I'm getting me the basic Brink Home alarm with 1 motion sensor. Now they will charge me $100 more for each additional motion sensor. I think this is to much and i was thinking if i can buy me 2-3 more additional motion sensors online and just wire these 3 to the existing one that Brink will install.
so my questions:
1. Will this work or will i somehow draw/pull to much V/A/ohm and that will stop the alarm system to function?
2. will this influence the 3 year warranty contract with brinks in case if they have to fix it?
3. am i just beeing cheap or is $100 for each brinks motion detection just way to much?
thanks for any help ;)

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong but That sounds like a crappy deall all the way around!Call ADT or some one else check pricing,Too all your other questions anything you add to your alarm has to be compatable, yes if you do it,it will most likely void your warranty!check around:eek:

This does sound like a crappy deal all around. For more reasons than one.
But if you look at the $100 charge from their perspective, you are being charged for the cost of the brand new sensor, cost of the wire, and the labor involved in running all that wire, worst case. Would could be quite a job. It sure would be in my house.
All they are offering you in the basic package is ONE motion sensor and nothing else? No fire monitoring? No door sensors? Yikes. I wouldn't own such a system even if it was free.
If you're the type that is going to enjoy adding sensors yourself and generally tinkering with the system then you'd be much better off just buying a system and installing it yourself. A wireless based system wouldn't require much effort at all. You can get monitoring for less than $15/mo, no contract, and with all that money saved the system would pay for itself and all the extra sensors in no time.
I can understand not wanting to spend hundreds and hundreds in a new alarm, but if you want to do things on-the-cheap you can get a Lynx for $100 and have a very nice little system for the money.

well,.. Brink gives me 1 motion sensor, 2 door, 2 window sensor, and they charge me for a 3 year contract 30 bucks a month.
I told brinks that i don't really need the window sensors and he responded that he would give me an extra doors sensor for free then since i have 3 doors. so now my house layout is over many corners amd I just would like to have 1-2 more motion sensors added to cover more rooms. It's just a two bedroom house by the way.
I looked at a vew nice systems online for max$200 and they offer monitor service for $10-$15 a month. Are they reliable with monitoring? I thought if I would go with ADT or Brinks it is guarantee that someone will call the cops and get them to check the house.
if i can buy the same motion sensor like brinks want to use and connect it to the wiring of the brinks motion, that should work and not interfer with anything.. correct?
by the way if i would run wiring from the planned motion sensor location, to the 2nd i motion i wanna setup. that would be maybe 8 foot away. so it would not be to much wiring.

if all they are giving you is one motion sensor then move on. find another company. don't let this 3 year warranty stuff fool you either. i good brand system, such as dsc will last for years without any issues. except for power surges threw your phone line or power line, you should be maintenance free for years. i back up battery will normally last 3-5 years. if you go with these guys, then the additional 100 dollars should be installed prices. if not, again, move on. just my two cents worth.
