My girlfriends washing machine stops when the rinse cycle is reached. The machine will do nothing but humm unless I manually turn the knob past the rinse cycle. Then it works fine again, just no rinse. Any idea's? Thanks

Make sure the machine is letting cold water come in for rinse cycle. The humming cold be the inlet water valve. Either screen is blocked where hose screws on or valve is bad.

Where is the humming coming from?
Does the washer fill with water before or after you turn the timer to get it going again?
It sounds like it could be the timer.
