Hi,I read a old post lastnight from RonFl about the panel in the ADT 3000en being a modifyed version of the ademco 20p,My question is-What is the defference- good or bad,thanks,Oh also will any monitoring company monitor a ADT panel,Thanks,:cool:

Ok then ron is MIA so can anybody here answer these questions?I thought since ronfl wrote the thread I read I would direct it to him,But it seems as though I am not going to get a response,Please help.:confused:

The Vista 20P without modifications is preferred. The Vista 20P can be downloaded with any compass downloader, the SW3000 can only be downloaded by ADT. The SW3000 also has bits of programming that cannot be modified, such as the exit delay tone. The SW3000 can be programmed to be monitored by another CS, it just needs to be hand programmed. I actually have a SW3000 panel in my house, being monitored by my current employer.

Hey thanks guys for the info,I knew ron would'nt leave me hagin but just did'nt know what happend!!I now have another question about the downloading part,What does that mean?Downloader?all help greatly appreciated,Thanks again,:thumbup:

The downloader is software for programming one of these systems. They are really designed for companies who service and configure a substantial number of similar systems.
For a DIY they can be more trouble than they are worth, because they need specific modems or adaptors, and you _still_ have to understand the nomenclature and procedures for the system you are setting up.
The generic software for the ademco panels _does not_ work for the clone systems like First Alert, ADT, etc, because they have their own specific versions of the software, and they don't make it available to anyone else.
