When I exit programming mode, the keypad reboots and I lose the chime setting. It seems flakey, sometime I have to reset a couple of time before it sticks. Is there a way to permantely set chime on?

How are you entering programming? If entering through the installer code, you shouldn't be losing the chime.

Ademco Graphic Touch Screen Keypad - 6270 this unit will reboot and yes you will lose the chime the and not the best for programming
