I have a DSC 832 alarm system that is about eight years old. About a year ago, we had some problems and disconnected the AC transformer.
I need to begin to use the system again on a regular basis but am having problems getting power to the unit/mother board and keypads.
Today I went to Radio Shack and had the transformer tested (it is a 16.5v). It tested out OK and while it is plugged in to the outlet it displays the light indicating it is receiving power. I also got a new battery as this was the first time I had replaced the battery. After replacing the battery and reconnecting the transformer, I am still not getting power to the unit or keyboards. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Check and see if there is a fuse on your mother board. If that is the case, then perhaps it may be blown.

The Power832 should have auto resetting breakers, not fuses.
Chances are you have a bad wire between the transformer and the board. Get a multimeter and make sure there's power going to the AC terminals on the board. If there is, make sure your keypad wiring is hooked up properly. Does the siren squawk for a moment when it's plugged in? Will it power up with the battery disconnected?
If it'll power up without the battery, the battery is bad. If the siren squawks when it's plugged in, the panel is getting power.
Worst case, a new circuit board is pretty cheap, just a pain to program.
