i have a trane heat pump with gas aux heat i recently have had problems when the temp outside drops below 40 it seems to just blow cold air it doesnt happen all the time just once in a while i woke up last night to a freezing house and the blower was just blowing cold air i turned the thermostat to emergency heat and it blew hot air for about 5 min. then the cold air began again then to day when it warmed up abit it seems to be runnig fine again i need help

It sounds like your normal control pattern is not working properly heatpump before temp drops another degree then auxiliary heat etc. to check this you need to work your thermostat carefully and document what the unit does.
If your room temp is 70 put your setpoint at 72 then document how the unit reacts that will give us enough info to proceed

Id say check on the ODT that works with the dual fuel H/P control kit. That turns you from H/P to gas

What is being used to control this? Tstat or Duel Fuel kit?

Model# of the control.
