We have the first row of laminate laid. Our problem is the second row. We think our walls are uneven, but even with that, we are having problems getting each piece of the second row to get in and get locked. First, they looked bowed - but they just weren't locked in place. Now, we just can't get it in place without knocking the first row out of place. Any help or ideas appreciated.

You can pull a chalk line down each side of the room, if you don't have a laser level, to see if the room is square.

To keep from knocking the first row out, nail spacers, made from double shims, (1 shim turned one way and the other shim turned opposite equals 1/4 inch) Nails these spacers (or duct tape if your base boards are still there.) against the wall to keep your 1/4 inch for expansion.

We were having the same problem. We called the manufacturer and they said the flooring should not have any bows or curves. We laid the planks on the long edge and it was clear to see there was a bow. They will not click together correctly if there is one.
