The previous owners of our home loved their wallpaper, so its been a labor of love to get it down and paint since we moved in. I've tried the blue goop, steamers, and lots of elbow grease.
Last night I was tackling the downstairs bathroom and my husband mentioned a trick that one of guys he had interviewed for a job had told him about. It worked better than anything I'd tried to date and best of all, no fumes and no chemicals.
I had already scored the wall at this point, so I don't know how it would work without scoring.
1. Score wallpaper
2. mix a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water
3. sponge over wallpaper
4. wait 3-4 minutes, or until paper is soaked through
5. use a putty knife to peel off the wall.
I didn't have to really scrape at all- it fell right off the wall with the knife. I had the bathroom done without breaking a sweat, which was a nice change after some rooms I've done in the last year.

Vinegar works great-if possible- remove as much wallpaper
as possible ( by hand )--no scoring necessary. Then apply vinegar to get backer & sizing.
