We have investigated concrete resurfacing (stamping & staining) but the expense - MY GOD! We could build a second pool!

We are tring to figure out some other alternatives to upgrade out backyard. We thought about tiling the patio (and learning to live with the pool deck are).

I have minimal experience with tiling, as I have done mosaic furniture pieces with broken tiles, etc.

My question is this - the patio we would like to cover has two sets of french doors that open inward. With the metal strip across each door how would we be able to finish the tiling right up to the doors. Would we need new door hardware?

ONe last thing - why can broom finished concrete not be stained? (this is what we were told, which increased the cost by 10 fold!) We wanted the concrete around the pool to resemble large stone slabs. But we're not gazillionaires either! lol

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome!

Why don't you inquire in the concrete and masonry forum first, about the repair or resurface of the concrete? There's a couple of fellows over there who can give you some solid answers about your problem.

If you still want to tile, we'll need to know some specifics about your concrete...what climate zone, is the concrete spalling, etc.
