Draperies and Top Treatments - curtains that will not hang correctly

hi,
first time to this site. need some help please. have made some curtains, the material is quite shiny but heavy and they are on eyelets through a pole, but they will not hang in pleats. they just balloon out and look awful. i made some other curtains in lighter material and the edges are all wonky, and i dont know how to fix!!!!
can anyone help???

Hard to say without seeing them. Do you have any pics you can link us to or at least give some more info. Do you have any idea what the fabric content is? Are they lined? How far apart are the grommets? If the grommets are too close, you may not be able to get deep folds. Could also be the fabric. Upholstery or polyester fabric won't always hold pleats or creases well, and will just do what it wants.
As for the other curtains, what do you mean by wonky edges? Do you mean ripply? How are you sewing the hems? Are they lined?

Hello, i'm guessing that your drapery has grommets. Could be a couple of things, check to see that the grommets are on the pole correctly. Second any time you use a silk or lite fabric it will usually billow out. You should always line and interline sheer fabric if you want it pleat nice. I hope that this helps you. Take Care..
