I just had my painter try this technique for the first time and it did'nt come out even. He put a drk base on, let dry, then crinkle step, let set for 3-4 hrs and did 3rd step with lighter paint, (all water based) Crinkle effect is'nt even throughout the walls, you can tell a difference where he had to cut in ceiling and corners. The effect is there, technique is'nt right can anyone help?

Unfortunately, it would be next to impossible achieve a consistent finish at this point without repainting the entire area.
How heavily the crinkle medium is applied, what the medium is applied with, and how long the medium is allowed to dry all determine the type of effect you see. It is very difficult to achieve a uniform crinkle effect, especially when dealing with such a large area.
Some see this variation as charming... others can't stand it.
