Hi,
I bought a foreclosure property and it came with one of these alarm systems. It has 4 door breaks and one glass break. The previous owners left nothing on the system so I am not able to get it activated. I found the install manual and user manual for it online. The install manual revision number is this, K5963V3bx 5/04 Rev. A. Found here
http://nassausecurity.com/usermanuals/lynxrenim.pdf
on page 47 it talks about resetting the master security code. Installer code + [code key] + [02] + desired 4-digit Master code. I called Apex the company that I think installed it (there sign was in the front) and they said their install code is 1234. What I don't know is the code key.

Can anyone help me out with the resetting of the master code on this Unit?

One other tidbit of info. The unit had a microtronics sticker on it and I'm guessing was installed by Apex in the later part of 2004, or possibly in early 2005.

Thanks in advance.

The "code" key is the 8 key. If you look closely, most versions of ademco type keypads have function/commands written above the numbers.

Apex's installer code is not 1234, at least it wasn't two years ago when they installed my Lynx. I finally got the guy to hand it over to me after I told him I was just going to try all 9999 combinations over the weekend.

Only later did I realize that I didn't even need it.

Right now my system displays 03 and Fault in the lower left corner. This is my patio door and when I put it in chime mode it tells me when I open it or any other door for that matter. However when I tried using the 1234 code followed by pressing 8 and then 0 2 and then my new code, nothing happens. I made sure to press all the keys with less than 2 seconds in between key presses. Do I need to get the system off of this fault in zone 3 before I enter the installer code and attempt a master code reset?

No, I just tried it on mine with a faulted zone and it changed fine. Why not just close the door though? LOL.

One thing: If are using the master code to change the master code, you need to enter the new master code _twice_ at the end. Say your existing master code is 1234, and you want to change it to 6789:

1234 + 8 + 02 + 6789 + 6789

Again, that is only if you're using the master code to change itself. But if the installer code is 1234 then that would not be necessary.

One way to see if the code 1234 is valid on your system at all is to hit 1234 + OFF. If nothing happens at all then that isn't a right code.

And if it's not, just change/view the installer code. Page 14 explains how to get into programming mode without the code. Just press and [#] at the same time within 50 seconds after the unit is powered up.

Yep I just found the same instructions here

and tried it out and presto I have a new installer code. Thanks!

[Edit: Ah, beat me to it while I was typing] Glad you got it sorted out.
