I have a Singer Furnance purchased in '83. Today a repair man came out checked furnance, cleaned the burners and did something to the heat exhaustand vestibule? (whatever that is) and tonight I don't have heat!!! I lit the pilot light and it is on but the furnance won't kick in. It is cold in the house now. What can I do to see where the problem is since I just paid him $149.00

Is there any thing I can do tonight to keep my furnance on until tomorrow when I can get someone to come and look at it? I lit the pilot light and the furnance won't kick in. Did I not light it correctly or should I try to light it again?

Any pro that hasn't made this mistake is likely a liar. A common mistake after lighting the pilot is failure to turn the gas valve to "ON". I hope this helps. If not, find some blankets.

IF you have a meter do you get 24V at the gas valve when calling for heat????
