i just bought this house and the prev. owner has died and i dont have the code all i want is the door chimes to work on the key pad it sats no ac and the arrows under that can someone call me or email me on how to get the code i called adt and they said the only way they would do that is if i singned up for monitoring someone please help

Ok, first of all, Vista 20 what? se? P?, there are major differences in the 4 or 5 different models they've made over the years.
If you look in the FAQ sticky posted, there are instructions on how to access the program mode and extract the installer code. Read through the Vista panel topics on this forum, this is frequent question.
If it's not in program mode, then "no ac" means that the system is currently running on just battery power, and will probably be shutting down soon. The power transformer is probably unplugged, or the breaker to the outlet is off.
