Hello, I have a side by side Westinghouse refrigerator, not sure of age as it was in the house when we bought it. But most likely at least 3 years old. When it "turns on", it suddenly makes a very noisy vibrating sound. The noise lasts as long as it is running. I just noticed it this morning for the first time. I'm not sure yet if this is affecting how it operates.
I know this is a general description but any suggestions as to what could be wrong would be appreciated, thanks.

There are a couple of simple things it could be.
Most SxS fridges have a condenser fan underneath that could have a broken/bent fan blade or bad motor..
There also could be a piece of tubing that somehow has been bent or the condenser fins could be plugged with dirt causing the unit to overheat.
Another possibility and one that has only an expensive solution is that the compressor could be worn out/damaged which would require it to be replaced.
To check this on your own you would need to remove the lower rear cover and investigate.
Once it is running the source of the noise should be obvious.
It would also be a good opportunity to vacuum it out.
Just be careful if looking in there while plugged in as there will be a spinning fan blade.
