Greetings
I own a Power832 security system with a PC1555, PC5132-RS and one PC5516 LED Keypad. I would like to add a second keypad at a different entrance so I can disable/enable alarm.
I powered off the alarm panel and disconnected battery. I connected an LCD5500Z keypad and powered on the system. I cleared the trouble light on PC5516 LED keypad by entering the time/date and the system operates as before I added the PC5500 LCD keypad.
The PC5500 powers on and indicates the correct time. Ready, armed and trouble lights are off. But when I press any key on the pad I get the following error " partition 2 unavailable". After a couple of days reading manuals and googleing the internet, I am stumped.
What have I done wrong?
flustered :wall:

Either this is a used keypad and already had an address set, or when you set the address, you entered 2x for the keypad address instead of 1x.
In either case, the keypad is looking for a non-existant partition. Go back into programming and set the address as 12, 13, etc.

Thank-you for your response MrRonFL
Your statements make sense, I guess my problem is that I cannot get into program mode with the 2X keypad since it is on the wrong partition. As soon as I hit a key on the pad I get my " partition 2 unavailable" error. Is there a way to reset a keypad to 1? or Can I set the partition on the first keypad for the second keypad?

Hold 1 for a few seconds, and the keypad will switch to partition 1, and you will be able to access programming.

Mr. MrRonFL
I tried your suggestion of holding down "1" for several seconds but nothing happens but the backlight of the LCD lights up. Afterwhich when I hit any other key it resumes back to its "partition 2 unavailable" error. Very strange. I put in a second PC5516 LED keypad and it acts dead also with the program light lit up. I am starting to think that my system will not support more than one keypad. BTW both keypads are in fact used.

The system should support about 8 keypads. Try this instead: Press # for about 2 seconds, then press 1 for about the same length of time.
If those keypads are set specifically as partition 2, this should let them jump to partition 1 long enough to get in and change the partition setting.

That worked!
I pressed # for a couple of seconds LCD beeped than prompted me to hit * to change system (partitions) so after pressing * I hit 1 and system changed to 1.
LCD remained in partition 1 for about a min then switched back to patition 2. So, I re-entered # * 1 and entered installer mode *8 then entered 000 0 12 and now keypad remains in partition 1.
Funny how this # * 1 sequence is not documented. At least the documents I perused through....I guess I could have missed it though.
Thanks MrRonFL for your help.
Much appreciated.

It's actually in the instructions for the PC5010 (Power 832), which is a 2 partition panel. The PC1555 cannot be partitioned, so the instructions aren't in the manual for it. The underlying software is hard coded into all of the power series panels.
