Hello,

I am in the process of finishing our basement and looking to installed some type of electric heat down there. The first floor has gas hot water baseboard.

Can you please tell me the benefits of electric baseboard or forced wall heater? It looks like Cadet makes both. Are there any other electric heat alternatives? Your recommendations?

Thanks!

As far as efficiency goes, electric is electric. But if the area is large, the fan unit may mix the air better than baseboard. It will also be noisier than baseboard so if it is a TV room, you should consider that too.

A hot water built in fan unit would cost least to operate but more to install. You could have it be a new zone off of your current system. Beacon Morris makes then as does Myson and a lot of others. Google hydronic fan unit or hydronic toe space heater.
